When Modern Was
Olivia Martin
Just off of the main drag on Church Street in Noe Valley, there are three unassuming antique shops that showcase smartly edited objects for the home.
At Lynn: Antiques & Beautiful Things you will find Art Deco vessels, Victorian accessories and midcentury furnishings scattered throughout the shop.
Down the street, owners Kimberly Karnes and Donna Taylor carry chic furnishings from the 1960s through the 1980s at When Modern Was, which also showcase current pieces from local artists.
Go to Lovejoy’s for lace tablecloths, porcelain tea sets and glass cake stands. Be sure to cross the street and visit their tea room, where high tea includes cucumber sandwiches, shortbread biscuits and scones with preserves and Devonshire cream.
